Q + A
Q: How long have you been a photographer?
A: Thanks to my mom’s influence, I’ve had a canon film camera in my hands as long as I can remember…but when my husband proposed with a DSLR as my engagement ring, I started shooting co workers, when I worked at a school as a behavior intervention specialist…and my job naturally evolved when they saw my work + all suddenly became interested in getting married! Then when our first child came along in 2010, it was go time to shoot weddings + events full time so that I could spend my days with him, instead of working all the week + working all the weekends!
Q: How has your style evolved over the years?
A: HA! Remember instagram in 2012? Premade filters and like every meal we ate was worthy of the ‘gram. As far as my client interaction I think that’s what has evolved the most. I’ve seen A LOT of weddings, and I’ve seen where I can interject myself to help clients, guests, etc. have a more joyful day. I’ve come into my own and stand firm in what I believe, advocate for those things, and passionately care for everything that matters to me!
Q. do you shoot all types of events?
A. Yes? and No? I have shot all the things, and while so many types of shoots are near and dear to my heart, I have entered a phase of life that being a mother is my number 1 priority - thus, most of my time spent away is shooting weddings. During the off season I’m happy to take on a bit more family / lifestyle work (hey! I was listed on the Peerspace Best Lifestyle Photographers in Columbus!) So if you’re interested - just contact me and see if we can make it work.
Q. Do you travel to shoot?
A. Yes! I will shoot anything I can that works for our family + my schedule. Which probably means if you want to bring me to an awesome place (no offense, Ohio), I’ll give you a mega discount and be your best friend.
Q. Film? but like, film film?
A. YES! I started seriously shooting film in 2016, and I make it my goal to shoot 40/60 film/digital on a wedding day. It’s something that brings me so much joy + gives my clients unique photos.
Q. the important question: coffee or flowers?
A. My 4 year old daughter asked me this, and it has basically been a thing I can’t stop thinking of - I think coffee? Because we spend 5 months of the year without flowers anyways, so I know what life is like without them. but in the summer! FLOWERS! (as evidence, my flower instagram account)
