planning for 2025 (and an engagement session at Jorgensen)
2025 couples should be about ready to book their wedding photography with local experts like Jessica Love Photography. I am looking to take on a few more clients for 2025, and I hope it’s you.
TLDR: I want to shoot your “off season” wedding, smaller wedding, or elopement…and in order to encourage you to do that, your pricing quote will reflect a heavy discount to book me up!
If you’re just here for the first time, welcome! I’m glad to have you - here’s a little about me in the shortest and SEO friendly blog post I can make about being a photographer in the greater Columbus area! I love LOVE my job. I’ve talked with lots of photographers who’ve started around the same time as me (14 years ago! wow!) that are feeling like they’re ready to transition out of weddings, but I’m here still quite excited about spending days with people starting their married lives together. A large portion of why I love what I do is that I schedule myself to not burn out. I - gasp - get ready for this…take most of the summer weekends OFFFFFF (!!) because more than loving being a photographer, I love being home with my kids during their summer breaks.
so I’m here to say to you: get in touch with me for your wedding photography…whether you’ve viewed my site and info and pricing, and even if you think your budget doesn’t match up. I get that what I do is a luxury, but also I aim to be as accessible to as many people as I can. If you’re getting married on a Sunday, in November, December, January, through March…you’re my people!! let’s do this and get you amazing photos, amazingly served, at a price that works for you!
A plea to the universe ;)
The best wedding days are filled with traditions that are meaningful to the couple. This couple who was married at Oak Grove at Jorgensen Farms included a gift exchange from Dungeon and Dragon friends including weapons for their DND characters. A gorgeous fall day with the best couple, best officiant (Windi Noble) and best venue in Columbus Ohio
if there’s anything I’ve learned in this business, it’s that when I share things that feel authentic and true, it attracts couples, humans, and events that feel authentic and true to what I love to shoot. Here’s a look into Cait and Pat’s Jorgensen Farms Oak Grove wedding. When we met to chat about their plans, they mentioned how each of their friends, who play in their Dungeons and Dragon campaign, that got married were gifted weapons specific to their character. Speak no more. What an amazing + unique tradition, I immediately knew our paths crossed for a reason. I love weddings for a whole lot of reasons, but the highest one up there is getting to see people embrace what is important to them + share those things with their loved ones.
so what’s my plea? bring me more of these. Authentic + honest and true to who you are type people, ready to share their love with the world! Get in touch today, and I promise to woo you with deals you can’t pass up!
jorgensen’s annual matrimony madness
Jorgensen Farms has an annual photo contest in March and these are the best images by Jessica Love Photography in columbus ohio
One of my favorite places to shoot in Columbus is Jorgensen Farms: both venues! So when they have their annual (well, it’s the SECOND one) contest to pick favorites, I spend WAY too much time looking through and judging what THEY’d consider the best. Well, clearly, all my couples are THE BEST, and I’m emotionally connected to these images. Here are some that I’m looking through to pick a favorite. Do you have one? LMK in the comments!
the end of summer on film
this time of year is always weird. the sudden change in darkness (I’m being dramatic) seems to happen so quickly. We spend all the summer months feeling free to do photos at weddings as we wish, now it’s like, “y’all eat? let’s … uh… go?” (or not, if you’ve looked around, I’m not one to force anyone to do any photos you’re feeling meh about!
So as these scans came in this week, I’m loving reliving back to warmer and longer days. As this blog usually goes: enjoy a mix of all the photos from all the events in no particular order! If you’re engaged and searching around here thinking we might be a good fit, I encourage you to reach out! Let’s start a convo and see how I can serve you!!
Jorgensen Farms, The Gardens, Engagement session
engagement session taken at Jorgensen Farms The Garden Venue in harvest season. Flower fields and a beautiful couple walk barefoot around the farm for photos
It’s such a fun time getting to know couples during an engagement session. Truth be told it’s as much a get to know you session as it is make photos for an engagement session. I love the slower pace of meandering around, with the couple trusting me to catch pretty locations to stop and make some images that will serve to show this time in their lives. Talking about the wedding, but mostly just learning about their lives, love, and of course PETS. Enjoy a few from Gina + Ryan’s engagement session at Jorgensen Farms Garden venue. A year from today they’ll get married at Oak Grove!
enjoying your day AND the best portraits
an easy how to schedule your wedding day to maximize your presence in enjoying your wedding day
Comin’ atcha today with another how to! If we’ve talked, you’ll immediately know how passionate I feel about being present enough to never, I mean NEVER, feel or even think for one second MAN I WISH I WAS DOING SOMETHING FUN INSTEAD OF PHOTOS! It’s like my second most promise to you, after the obvious first promise that you’ll fully love your entire photo gallery completely!
a generic timeline to maximize your presence on your wedding day
first look (ALONE) with your partner. Do you have to do a first look? absolutely not, but if you do, you have more time together (for pictures!) that is natural and happens organically. Why alone? Isn’t it cute to have your friends and family in the background? well, I mean, sure in THIS moment, maybe…but think forever? When you look back on your wedding day, what’s it about? Throwing a great party for your loved ones, sure…but celebrating your love with YOUR LOVE, that’s it!
take a moment alone together after your ceremony. Call it a breather, call it a break..but you can take 7 minutes while the guests get moving from ceremony to cocktail space…and I don’t even need to be there the whole time. Give me 3 minutes of that exhale when you realize you’ve done it! you’re married! then actually get to enjoy those quiet moments with each other!
During cocktail hour, I’ll offer you a chance to step out and “take a break” from the crowd - because mingling is HARD WORK. (I always tell couples how this is the hardest part of the day, the introverted-extrovert in me is overwhelmed with wanting to photograph people but also v. much wanting to retreat to my long lens and just get candids :) )….and I bet you’ll totally enjoy just a quick second to recap with your partner with some magical shots!
THEN finally! you’re usually the first people fed during the reception. If you’re willing to step out for - you guessed it - another chance to be alone + take it all in, I’ll come along and capture some naturally happy-to-be-together moments of you + your partner!
what do you think? have you thought about how you want to spend your time on your wedding day? If nothing else, I hope this has helped you realize that not one single “how to do your wedding day” guide will ever fit perfectly for you. You should consider your personality, your love, and your season of getting married and do it exactly how it feels right!!
